Welcome to your next home! This is an amazing condo in a wonderful neighborhood. Rockridge is a very special place, and so is this apartment. We intended to live here, well forever, but family needs are taking us elsewhere. We hope you enjoy and cherish this lovely place we called home as much as we have.
We downsized from a large single family home so that we could move to this walkable neighborhood with great local schools . We weren’t sure about apartment living - would our kid get enough outdoor time? Would we? The large wrap-around balcony providing space for outdoor furniture, tons of plants including a vegetable garden, and still a lot of room left for kid’s outdoor toys meant that we could spend as much time outside as we wanted inside. The unit is quiet and peaceful, with a calming morning light, and pleasant temperature in the evenings.
Building access and deliveries are easy with a secure package room, mailroom; a modern intercom app to provide access to the lobby from wherever you are. The building has a communal patio with sweeping views of San Francisco, Mt Tam and East Bay hills; great for letting a dog or a kid run around while soaking up the sunset views with friends & family. We have made genuine friends out of some of our neighbors in the building which has been an added bonus of living in this community.
As someone who loves cooking for friends, we found plenty of storage in the kitchen and made some upgrades to make it more functional by converting some kitchen shelves to pull-out drawers; upgraded the countertop, sink and range; and refreshed the cabinet color and drawer pulls. The large closets in each bedroom also provide ample storage. The spacious entry area has more storage which we upgraded by adding statement barn doors. The bathrooms recently got a face lift with functional vanities, new shower enclosure, and modern fixtures. We made these upgrades because we were planning to live here as long as we could! The simple style of the apartment becomes an open canvas to lend your own touch to it; we had just started to explore painting the walls and adding wallpaper to draw out its character.
If you’re considering this apartment, you probably already know that Rockridge is great. The library, shops, cafes, restaurants, and the high frequency bus and BART service are just a few blocks away - you can be car free or take advantage of the deeded parking space that comes with the unit. There’s also a secure bike room in the lower garage. The building location is a short 20-min walk to the Temescal Farmers’ Market and Frog Park. Walk up Broadway Terrace and enjoy the staircases of Upper Rockridge and sweeping views of the Bay Area from the top of the hill. We were excited to send our child to an amazing local school, which is about a 20-min walk on Broadway, and have enjoyed walking her to pre-school everyday. While only on the second floor, the building has an elevator making it easy to age-in-place or get a stroller out the door in the morning.
